Zhan Gallery, located on the renowned street of Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock in the historical state of Melaka, was established since 2006. It houses a plentiful array of modern artworks, mostly paintings which are embraced with a line-up of unique sculptures. The current artist-in-residence is Ng Foo Cheong, a Kuala Lumpur born artist who is an active practitioner in the regional and international arena of fine arts.

The option of establishing Zhan Gallery in the heart of Melaka City is an ideal location for this art gallery since it houses modern paintings in the traditional, if not a local style.

Today, Melaka City is honored to be a UNESCO Heritage City. Such allows times of yore to be embraced as one walks through Zhan Gallery enjoying not only the exuberant paintings, but also the architectural heritage of the building. The building is noted as a traditional Melaka Style House also known as the Baba Nyonya home. It is a unique blend of Chinese and South East Asian stylistic features both in its structural design and surface decoration.

Zhan Gallery has 1 major viewing hall with 3 secondary halls both at the lower and upper gallery spaces. It also has an artist studio with a back garden. The interior space is designed to given an authentic Melaka feel with a touch of the Balinese style, allowing visitors to enjoy an ambiance of culture and heritage. Space is also smartly organized to allocate free movement for visitors to fully absorb and enjoy the paintings displayed. And, music vibrates subtly across hallways to uplift one’s artistic spirit.
